My Sister Suffered a Stroke & Lost Her Income - Please Help

Donation protected

My sister, Alex, recently suffered a stroke at just 33 years old and her world has been completely turned upside down.

Alone in her apartment and without warning, the onset of the stroke began. Alex was quickly losing control of her limbs and even though she was painfully aware of everything that was happening, had no power to stop it. Miraculously and through her determination to survive, she managed to dial 911. By the time the EMTs arrived, Alex was unresponsive and couldn't answer the door. They had to force their way into the apartment and found Alex on her bedroom floor. She was quickly transported to the nearest emergency room where she received care. She was then transferred to the ICU where she stayed for 5 nights before being taken to a rehabilitation facility.

As mentioned in the title, Alex has lost her only source of income as the time it will take for her to recover will be too long for her job to hold her position. In addition, Alex had not been employed long enough with her former employer to qualify for medical insurance. Unfortunately, Alex doesn't qualify for Medicaid or any type of assistance.

My sister has always been fully employed and takes so much pride in her work ethic and independence. Her doctors expect her to make a full recovery and Alex is doing everything in her power to recover quickly.

As we all know, private health insurance is very expensive and is out of reach for most people. Alex was no exception. She had no choice but to hope for the best while she waited to become eligible for health insurance through her previous employer. Although our family is helping as much as we can with her expenses, it will not be enough.

She is currently in a rehab facility to receive physical and speech therapy. When she is cleared to be released from the rehab facility, she will receive outpatient physical therapy to complete her recovery. Although her stay in the rehab facility will be paid by a scholarship, all other expenses remain her responsibility.

My sister is so hard working, and so proud. She has a VERY hard time asking for help, as do my parents. Although our family is stepping up to provide Alex with as much financial assistance as they can afford, it will fall short of her needs. Therefore, we are humbly asking for help on my sister's behalf.

Prayers, first and foremost, are incredibly helpful. We have already felt God's hand on her and are so blessed by it. Any prayer you have for my sister is the best thing you can do.

Secondly, if you feel comfortable, I ask you to share this.

Thirdly, if you feel so moved and have the ability, any amount, no matter how small, will help Alex with her medical bills.

Thank you all for taking your time to read a part of my sister's story. Thank you for your prayers, thoughts of strength, and well wishes for her. Some of you reading this are family, some are long time friends, some are newer blessings, and some still are strangers. You are all so very appreciated.

Above all else, my whole family thanks God for my sister still being here. Hug your loved ones, and thank you all.
