Stand with Rick in His Fight Against Kidney Disease

Rick Ward Jr., also known as "Viking Rick", has Stage 5 kidney failure disease, which is end-stage kidney failure. His GFR is an 8 when a normal reading is 60-89. On April 3, 2023, Rick was admitted to the hospital and was treated by the Rapid Response Team. Since that date, he has been on dialysis three times per week for four hours each session. Rick has had five operations to date.

He has not worked full time in 3 years. If you know Rick, then you know he is a hard worker and always worked overtime and weekends. He is becoming overwhelmed by bills since starting on Medicare assistance.

He needs help with car maintenance since he is driving to Cleveland Clinic for treatment and is 65 miles each way from home in Niles, OH. Dental coverage is not part of his coverage. Some hospital and doctor bills are not covered.

Rick is in line for a donor kidney and is a strong candidate. He will need additional help when the transplant takes place.
