In loving memory of Abby Perez-Toth

Abby passed away on June 7, 2024, after bravely battling uterine cancer which spread rapidly throughout her body.

Abby was passionate about music, scuba diving, the mountains, and nature, and her bright spirit will be greatly missed. She always remained optimistic and wore a smile, even during the most challenging times. Abby leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and selflessness that touched everyone she met. In the days leading up to her passing, her greatest worry was the sorrow that would consume others once she left this world.

In her late twenties, Abby tragically lost her brother Richard. The family was devastated, and many struggled to get through each day. Despite her own grief, Abby lovingly cared for her brother's two sons and daughter. She made sure they received nurturing and love, taking them on trips, cruising the streets of Los Angeles, and spending endless hours sharing her love of music with them.

Later in life, while housesitting for her cousin Lupe in Boulder Creek, Abby met her love, Chris. They married and had a beautiful daughter, Ruby Rose. Abby was a devoted wife and a rockstar mom, with a mission to love and care for Ruby. In their short 28 years together, they attended more than 30 concerts. As Ruby put it, Abby was her best friend in the world.

When Abby lost her father year, she devoted her time to her mother, now 93. She would drive for an hour each way from her home in Big Bear Lake multiple times a week to take her mom shopping, go to lunch, and spend quality time together.

Abby's smile, joy and kindness touched everyone who knew her. She was loved deeply by many, including family and lifelong friends who she also considered family. Abby's passing happened so quickly that those closest to her are still in shock. In fewer than six weeks, she went from the optimism that comes with your almost final chemo treatment to leaving this world.

Abby's Cancer Journey

In October of 2023, Abby was diagnosed with uterine cancer. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor and then had chemotherapy as a precautionary measure. On April 17, 2024, the eve of her birthday, she went to the ER due to severe pain. Doctors discovered a new tumor. Abby was one visit short of completing her chemotherapy. Two weeks later, the tumor more than doubled in size. It was even more heartbreaking because the cancer had spread to major organs. She returned to her mother's home, where she had been staying to be close to the hospital. The next few weeks were filled with Abby's immeasurable suffering as she was in and out of the hospital.

On June 2, Abby returned to her mother's home again, where her family cared for her. On June 7, an ambulance took Abby to Redlands Community Hospital after a night of pain and suffering, during which her mother, brother Herman, and cousin Lupe tended to her. The doctors shared the heartbreaking news that Abby would not survive. Her medical team administered blood pressure medication to keep her going for a few hours so loved ones could say their goodbyes. Loved ones gathered around her, showering her with love and support. Later that night, she quietly slipped away, finally finding peace from her suffering.

This GoFundMe page is set up to assist with burial, services and Celebration of Life expenses for Abby. Your support and contributions are greatly appreciated as we celebrate Abby's final journey. Her light will forever shine bright in our hearts.
