Support Alice’s Battle Against Brain Cancer

Update 6/21/24:
From Brittany and Dan: We wanted to first thank everyone so much for their support as we navigate this new challenge, and would also like to provide a quick update on Alice's condition. Working with the amazing team at CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia), we decided to biopsy the tumor on Alice's brainstem. Biopsies have traditionally not been used to diagnose DIPG, but recent advancements in neurosurgery have made them safer. The biopsy revealed that Alice's tumor was not, in fact, DIPG/DMG, but rather a low-grade glioma. We are still working towards a specific diagnosis, but the specific mutations identified by the biopsy allow us to plan treatments.

The location of the tumor (the pons) still renders it dangerous and inoperable, but unlike a DMG, it is treatable with chemotherapy. Alice will undergo at least 60 weeks of chemo, and the tumor will be closely monitored for growth. Alice remains in great spirits, running around with the manic energy typical of a 3 year old, and has been navigating her many doctor visits with bravery and grace.

We never thought we would celebrate a brain cancer diagnosis, but the past month has shifted our perspective in unthinkable ways. We still have a long, difficult road ahead, but we are so grateful for our medical team, and for our community, who has come out to support us in bigger ways than we could have imagined.

Original Messaging:
We are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts but hopeful spirits as we embark on a journey to fight DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). Friends of ours, Brittany and Dan Taylor’s daughter, Alice (3) has been diagnosed with this aggressive and devastating brain tumor.

DIPG is a rare form of childhood cancer that affects the brainstem, making it incredibly challenging to treat. Despite advancements in medical science, there is still no cure for this cruel disease.

We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for Alice's medical treatments, including potentially life-saving experimental therapies, travel expenses for specialized care, and any other unforeseen expenses that may arise during this challenging time.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in Alice's fight against DIPG. Your generosity will provide us with the resources we need to explore every possible avenue for treatment and give Alice the chance she deserves to live a long and fulfilling life.

Please consider donating and sharing our campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. Together, we can rally around Alice and her family and show them that they are not alone in this battle.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, support, and generosity.
