Support Andy Odom’s Heart Surgery Recovery

Donation protected
We’re the Rodrigues, and we are creating this fundraiser for our good friends, the Odoms.

On Friday, Andy Odom underwent crucial open heart surgery. While the procedure was successful, and he’s on the mend, the medical bills from over a week hospitalized, ongoing care costs, and time away from work have created a significant financial burden. (Andy’s Facebook update below)

Andy is a wonderful person who is always the first to help others, and who regularly helps fundraise for several Denton-based nonprofits.

Despite having health insurance, the out-of-pocket costs will still be more than an inconvenience.

In addition to the surgery, there are costs for medications, physical therapy, follow-up appointments, and other unexpected expenses. Not to mention, Andy will need time for recovery and won't be able to return to work immediately.

This is where we hope you can help.

We are looking to raise $25,000 to help cover these medical expenses during Andy's recovery period.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Andy and Crystal's life during this challenging time, and help relieve some of the added financial stress of the situation. If you're unable to donate at this time even sharing this fundraiser with your network would also be a great help.

All funds raised will go directly to Andy to help cover the surgery and recovery costs. We will keep everyone updated on Andy's recovery journey and how the funds are being used.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. It means the world to the Odoms and all those who love them. We are truly grateful for your generosity and kindness.

Thank you,
The Rodrigues

UPDATE FROM ANDY:

“Last Sunday at around 3 a.m. Andy woke up feeling a very intense pain that didn’t go away. So he writes that he “thought it was time to hit the emergency room and have them laugh me out the door for complaining about heartburn.”

Andy continued in a post on social media: As part of the emergency room process when you mention "chest pains" the resident cardiologist stops by to take a listen and chat.
He asked me, "Has anyone ever told you you have a heart murmur?" "Nope", I said. "Well, you do", he replied. They did an echocardiogram and a CT scan and discovered that my aortic valve was deformed and leaking (random birth defect that no one has ever caught before), AND that my aorta was dilated to 4.8 (doctors start to talk about fixing them at 5.0). So I also had an aneurysm.
They immediately placed me in the ICU for observation and to schedule open heart surgery, which I had Friday morning around
8am.”
