It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Anjali Rimi Koka's beloved mother. During this incredibly difficult time, Anjali and her family are grieving the loss of a cherished mother, family member, and friend.

In addition to the emotional pain of this loss, the family is facing significant medical expenses incurred during her mother's illness, as well as the costs associated with memorial and funeral services. These unexpected financial burdens come at a time when the family is focused on honoring her memory and supporting one another through their grief.

Anjali Rimi has been a faithful and loyal board member on Transcanwork and she is the Founding and leader of Parivar Bay Area, which advocates for trans equity, economic justice, immigrant support, and community belonging. She has been creating programs that have served tens of thousands of people in India and the diaspora, including employment and leadership initiatives for transgender immigrants.

She received recognition from the White House, Congress, California legislators, and organizations in India for her advocacy and community service. Being featured in a documentary, Belonging: A Trans Immigrant Story, which highlights her immigration journey and activism.
