Who we are… John & Claudia
We are a couple team in our job and in our life, who between us have over 40 years experience in the restaurant business. We met 5 years ago while working for Fabio Trabocchi; John as the Executive Chef of Fiola Restaurant, and Claudia as Fabio Trabocchi’s Corporate Pastry Chef. It was love at first sight! We quickly realized we share the same passion, to always strive to do and be our best and to be at the helm of our own business.
Our work experience…
Claudia is originally from Vinovo, Turin and has worked at some of the finest hotels and restaurants from the Cayman Islands to Washington D.C. A few are Kimpton, Ritz Carlton, Bulgari Hotel, John has worked up and down the East coast at some of the finest restaurants, hotels and country clubs ranging from Naples, FL to Washington, D.C. Fiola Mare, Blue Duck Tavern to name a few. Upon reviewing our restaurant experiences, areas of expertise, and ideas for our future goals, we became infatuated with the idea of moving to Italy and starting a small business of our own.
The Business…
The business we are looking to acquire is a wonderful little gem with a successful 30+ year history! It is located in Vinovo, just outside of downtown Torino. The location is amazing! It is contently located next to a community pool, tennis club, Juventus soccer training facility, a high school and is just minutes from a large mall and a horse racing track. This beautiful Pasticceria (Italian Style Bakery) has been serving the locals for over 35 years! It seats 50 people comfortably inside and 100 people outside on a covered patio. The kitchen is more than generous in size, so there is plenty of room to consider expanding our range of production down the road. Currently, it has a very loyal customer base and is serving coffee and pastries and lunch, that consist of pizzas, gelato, drinks, and of course beautiful pastries and cakes. Fun fact: Vinovo is Claudia’s native village. She lived there until she started traveling around the world 13 years ago. Claudia and her family have been patrons of this establishment for over 30 years! In fact, they baked Claudia’s cake for her first birthday! Our plan is to continue doing what has been successful for the current owners and enjoyed by their patrons but kicking it up a notch, and then slowly incorporating more of our ideas and expanding on their concept.
First things first…
Having shared our future goals for operations above, we realize our priorities and our first order of business is to use a portion of the funds to renovate, refresh and update the pasticceria and add an indoor bathroom for patron use. As a future goal further down the road, we would love to update the patio as well with heaters, lights, new tables and chairs.
Why we are looking to you…
We are hoping you would like to jump aboard our adventure and help making this dream become a reality! We greatly appreciate your past support of our work and just the fact that you are taking the time to read our story means everything to us. This experience of building our business based on our own ideas has not only brought us closer together, but it has made us realize how much we believe in each other, and how much we believe that together we can succeed.
Taking you with us…
We are committed to take you with us on this incredible journey and keep you updated through social media (and of course in person if you are planning a trip to Italy!);
We are looking forward to sharing with you all of the exciting ways that your contribution will have made our dream become a reality; to own a place where hospitality and passion for the craft is felt when you walk through our door and then again when you sit down for a meal at our table.
With our sincerest and deepest gratitude,
John and Claudia
