Support Ely's Family After Adan's Loss

Hello, my name is Ely. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart that you take the time to read my story. On May 8, 2024, my 3 daughters, 8, 9,18 and I were devastated by the death of their dad and my beloved husband Adan Nazario Munoz due to Cancer. He lost his battle against lymphatic lymphoma. He was a wonderful 42-year-old husband, father, son and friend full of dreams and always so joyful.

He had faced his 1st battle to cancer back on December 11, 2019. He fought for 6 months, and the treatment was successful, and he beat it! He went in remission.

In August 2023 he noticed that he had a little bump on his neck, a biopsy revealed to us that the cancer had returned. He began chemotherapy and was ready to fight once again.

3 weeks after starting his treatment, his oncologist asked to talk to him in person, only to tell him that his cancer had spread to the left lung and his chest. The cancer in his lung was a different type of cancer that was more aggressive. There were six cycles of treatment that were scheduled but in the 5th cycle, we were told that his cancer had spread to his brain, making him lose control of his left eye.

His doctor referred him for a Car T cell transplant. He needed to finish his chemotherapy. Since beginning his treatment, Dr. had to change his chemotherapy treatment 4 times, because none of the treatments were working. His pain became increasingly unbearable. The Car T cell transplant was his only hope.

He had his transplant scheduled for April 23, but doctor reschedule because his cells did not reproduce as expected they extracted more cells from his body and were sent to another laboratory and this time they did reproduce as expected and the transplant was scheduled for May 9th at City of Hope. With the deepest pain of my heart, the love of my life and the father of my girls took his last breath 1 day before his transplant.
