In a heartbreaking turn of events, 16-year-old Elyjha Chandler, the son of our handyman, Lester Chandler and his friend Christian, 17, were swept away by a powerful wave at Jacob Riis Park in Queens on June 21, 2024. Despite extensive search efforts, the boys have not been found.

Elyjha was a bright, promising young man with a contagious smile and a passion for basketball. His sudden loss has left his parents, Aminatu Noah and Lester Chandler, and the entire community devastated.
