Mac's fight to survive starts today!

I am reaching out to you today because someone we all care about dearly could

use our love, support, and prayers. Please open your hearts.

Our brother, Mac MComas, has been having issues with his heart and lungs for

over a year. After going back and forth to different doctors, failing a stress test,

and undergoing a painful bone marrow biopsy, he has finally received his

answers. In September, he was diagnosed with a rare bone marrow disease,

called amyloidosis where abnormal proteins are produced in the bone marrow

and deposit in the body's organs and tissues.  Mac's heart and lungs have been

most affected by these amyloid deposits.  His heart muscle has thickened,

reducing its ability to pump blood to his body and causing him extreme shortness

of breath, pain and fatigue. His lungs are retaining fluid, and he recently spent a stint in

the hospital due to a blood clot and pneumonia. There is no cure for his disease

and the treatment for it is similar to cancer treatment with Chemotherapy and

Stem Cell Replacement. Since his diagnosis, he has been receiving weekly

chemotherapy to try to put this horrible disease in remission.

The ongoing effects from the treatment has made it impossible for Mac to work

and has interfered with his ability to provide for his family. He will be off of work

for at least 6 months. Lisa is trying her best to juggle work, bills and doctors

appointments, while taking care of her family and home, but it is beginning to be

a struggle. We are hoping to raise funds to help with the loss of income and to

help offset the medical expenses that have incurred and that have yet to come.

Mac and Lisa have done so much for so many people over the years and now we

can give back. Any donations, prayers or encouragement for Mac and his

treatment would be greatly appreciated.

More than anything, I know Mac will be thrilled to hear from so many people he

cares about.
