Hi, my name is Alicia Clark and we are doing this fundraiser for my family especially my phenomenal and sweet husband Brandon Clark who is fighting for his life in ICU at Emory Transplant Center in Atlanta Georgia. We are reaching out to humbly request your support and generous contributions towards our family goal. We have children ages 2 and 16. Transparency is very important to me so, I would like to take you on our journey from the beginning to the present day. We believe that your commitment to making a positive impact align perfectly with our mission in keeping a roof over our family head, food expenses, out patient care, traveling, housing bills, and medical expenses for my husband Brandon Clark. We kindly request your consideration in supporting our efforts while my lovely husband fights for his life. I invite you to walk with me through this journey that lead up to our fundraiser. Why is this fundraiser important to us? Excellent question, my lovely husband Brandon Clark was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2018. Brandon Clark was a sweet, kind, and passionate young man whom had no history of drinking, using drugs, or smoking. Growing up Brandon Clark had dietary issues such as gaining weight due to the fact that he had a very high metabolism. The exact cause of his liver cancer is unknown. Once placed on the transplant patient list for a liver Brandon had to under go a series of labs, radiation, and x-rays imaging to maintain his health and place on the list. Brandon was transported by his mother Tiffany Clark back and forth from their home at the time in Dublin Ga to Emory Transplant Center in Atlanta Georgia until Thursday December 31st, 2020. It was New Years Eve and I was home with our two month old baby girl Azalea, Brandon had to work that day at Home Depot. He got off of work around 7pm, came home took a shower and took a nap beside our two month old baby Azalea. We will never forget the phone ringing around 11ish that night. Brandon's liver coordinator Grace from Emory Transplant Center in Atlanta Georgia called and informed us that a liver had became available for Brandon. We had to pack up and get on the road right away. It was us and Brandon's mom and sister. This was during Covid-19 so we weren't able to be at the hospital with him during the entire process which was scary for him and us. We stay about a mile from the hospital at Emory Conference Center. We were able to video chat with him through out the process. On January 02, 2021 my phenomenal husband received his liver. His road to healing and recovery was very difficult, painful, and stressful unable to be surrounded by his family made him miserable. After 90 days we were finally able to take my amazing husband home. Their was extensive out patient follow ups and Brandon was incapacitated for a single continuous time period from April 02, 2021 to August 15, 2021. The healing and recovery process went well and in a shorted time than expected. Brandon was 29 at the time of his Transplant and went back to work at home depot. The next two years went smoothly with no signs of rejection. On January 19, 2023 Brandon Clark was injured in an vehicle accident. He sustained deep braising in the rib area and complained of shortness of breath. During this time Brandon was having regular checks up every 3 months and labs every other Friday for observation of the on going healing and treatment of the liver transplant, which changed to every 6 months due to the great liver levels so his next appointment with his transplant doctor was on May 18th 2023. Since his recovery so smoothly and all the lab work came back great we was advised by transplant doctor that there was no reason to worry about Brandon liver because labs showed no signs of rejection. So we knew the new health issues was a result of his injury from the vehicle accident. So after the accident Brandon was seen at Fairview Hospital in Dublin Ga. Brandon had blood and x-rays taken and results showed only deep braising of his rib area with no signs of rib fractures or internal bleeding. Since Brandon was experiencing these issues still we made a doctor appointment with Brandon primary doctor Dr. Dukes Dr. Dukes had labs completed that came back with same diagnosis. Brandon was then referred to Ortho Sport and Spine Physicians in Macon Georgia. On March 01, 2023 Brandon assessment at the Ortho Sport and Spine Physicians was ordered and received of the left rib area. Images revealed moderate to severe thoracic scoliosis, multiple levels of degenerative disc. At the time my husband weight was 123.6 lbs On March 27, 2023 Brandon second visit to Ortho Sports his weight 123.6 lbs, blood pressure was 145 over 105, heart rate 94min He received a back brace, topical creams such as dendracin, and lido Pro oatmeal. March 29, 2023 my husband had another appointment at Ortho Sports and his weight was 119.8, blood pressure 136/98 in which the physician advised a trip to the ER. I took my husband to the ER and we were informed that of test, blood pressure, and x-rays results were normal. April 11, 2023 Brandon weight was 115, blood pressure 129/89 we were advised to take a trip to the ER. We received the same news as before. Over the next few months we increased his protein and calories intake to control the weight loss. I started noticing more of a weight loss plus jaundice of the eyes that was obvious and we made another trip to the primary doctor office. August 09, 2023 after being examined we were informed that the issues may be a result of his liver levels being high. After Brandon appointment we contacted his liver coordinator Grace from Emory Transplant Center in Atlanta Georgia and was instructed to get labs done at Fairview Hospital and sent off to Emory Transplant Center. On August 11, 2023 Grace called us that morning and told us to head to Emory because Brandon liver numbers were terrible and she already made arrangements for his room. We packed and drop the children off with their grandmother and headed to Emory. My husband was hospitalized from 08-11-2023 to 08-18-2023 and diagnosed with moderate acute cellular rejection. He was treated and released with extensive out patient follow ups including weekly labs locally and medical appointments to Atlanta. My husband needed care by me to medications, daily activities, and transportation of course to and from labs and appointments. After one week of his liver numbers looking better my husband took a turn for the worst. My husband developed some news symptoms which consist of vomiting, extreme itchiness all over his body jaundice of the eyes and skin. He was admitted at the Fairview Hospital and than transported on September 1, 2023 to Emory Transplant Center in Atlanta Georgia by ambulance. My husband and I have been here since and his health has declined. Brandon Clark has has 3 biopsy, colonoscopy, 3 EKG's of the chest, Endoscopic Retrograde cholangiopancreatoscans, and two CT scrans, Today August 15, 2023 my husband was placed in ICU for high kidney and liver levels plus pancreas infection. Our goal is 8,000 dollars for our fundraiser. How will the funds be spent? Excellent question, 1,360 is for rent, 175 for lights, 478 09 for car note, 428 for car insurance bill, 2,000 on hotel stay for our children, Brandon's mom and sister, 1,000 for food, 500 for travel and parking, 2,000 for medical bills and after extensive care not covered by insurance for my husband because he's going to beat this, 479 dollars for food at the hospital as I stay with my husband and medication that is not covered by his insurance. Your support would be valuable and greatly appreciate it to the fullest. We welcome all the prayers you are able to spear. Any amount no matter how small, will make a significant difference in our lives.
