Support for the family of Mr. Ronald Johnson, Sr.

As many of you may know, my dad was hospitalized due to an accident on Saturday, May 25.

At around 11pm, the police arrived at my parent’s home to inform my mom that he had been in an accident, and that he was being treated at RRMC. She called me immediately and I was en route, expecting to go to the local hospital. I arrived at my parent’s home to learn that he had been airmeded to UMC New Orleans for burn treatment just minutes prior. We begin obtaining the devastating details regarding the accident and his injuries on our drive to New Orleans.

Upon arriving at UMC, we learned that my dad suffered a heart attack while driving, causing his truck to cross the center lane and onto the side of the highway where he crashed into a tree- causing his truck to then become engulfed in flames. He suffered 3rd degree burns on 27% of his body. He also suffered cracked ribs and a broken eye socket.

While we have been (and continue to be) fervently in prayer, the primary focus is now to keep my dad as comfortable as possible until his transition.

I am creating this GoFundMe to ease the burden of food costs for my mom during her time here, hotel and parking costs for my awesome and steadfast family that travel to the city to be with my parents, medical expenses, and to just fill any gaps of income along with any other expenses that may surface during these upcoming days/ months. Anything contributed would be graciously appreciated.

We the family of Mr. Ronald Johnson, Sr., are beyond grateful for the countless calls/ texts, visits, and DMs that my dad has been CONSTANTLY receiving. Lastly but certainly not least, God bless those that were traveling along the same route as my dad on the day of his accident. They weren’t just spectators, recording a video for social media that day. They pulled my dad from his truck and contacted emergency services. I understand that they too may have suffered some burns. We are incredibly grateful that you were present and reacted in the manner that you did, allowing us more time with our son, dad, husband, uncle, brother, papa and a friend to oh so many.
