Support Grace City Opera Theatre's Mission

The Grace City Opera Theatre is a 501c3 non-profit organization established to preserve, promote, educate and perform the Master Works of African American and African Descent Classical Composers. Further, to keep the Master Works of African American and African Descent Classical Composers works in the mainstream of Classical Music.

It is the goal of the Opera Theatre to develop, educate, and provide opportunities for African American Artists, Vocalists, Instrumentalists, Composers, Librettists and Directors to present their works as well as perform the Master Works of the Founding African American and African Descent Classical Composers of earlier centuries. The Grace City Opera Theatre is committed to educating the community at large about Classical Music and it's origins in African Culture, while making Opera accessible to all.

Since our founding in 2016 Grace City Opera Theatre has made History in both Michigan and Nevada, by becoming the first African American Woman Founded Opera Theatre vested through our mission.

Our impact is significant in Cultural Preservation and Education. These works are a vital part of the cultural heritage of African American and African communities. By preserving and performing them, the community safeguards it's history, traditions and artistic expressions, ensuring that they are passed down to future generations.

Exposure to these compositions educates the community about the rich contributions of African American and African Descent Classical Composers to Classical music challenging the often, Eurocentric narrative of classical music history.

Historically, African American and African Descent Classical composers have been marginalized. By bringing their works to the forefront, the community helps to correct this historical exclusion, promoting a more inclusive and just artistic landscape. The Grace City Opera Theatre is raising money to support our Programs and to encourage artists in their pursuit of a career in Opera.
