Since the 90s, LambdaIstanbul Cultural Center was where Istanbul’s LGBTQ+ community gathered, watched films, organized, partied and made home. 8 years ago Lambda lost its space to gentrification. The center was where we were keeping massive pride flags and thousands of lollipop signs in various languages screaming “we are queer, and we are here!” before hitting the streets for pride marches. Lambdaistanbul volunteers are now working hard to re-open the LGBTI+ cultural center. Let's help them realize this dream !!!!
A dedicated queer cultural center to host LGBTI+ events and political organizing is vital at a time when authoritarian and power-hungry politicians are inciting fear & hatred against all minorities and dissident voices, including queer and trans folks to divert frustration away from themselves. Let's give LambdaIstanbul a hand to get the cultural center off the ground and let the queer magic fill the new space with life!
