My friend, Lisa, suddenly lost her husband, Merrick Schlukebir (32) on Thursday, March 14, 2024. With Lisa's blessing, I'm reaching out to you, inviting you to join us in contributing towards the creation of a memorial bench and the planting of a tree to honor Merrick's memory.

As we continue to cherish the memories of Merrick, Lisa finds solace in the idea of creating a lasting tribute to honor his life and legacy. A memorial bench and tree at Briarcliff Woods Prairie would serve as a beautiful and meaningful way to remember and celebrate Merrick for years to come.

Merrick touched the lives of so many with his warmth and kindness. Merrick was an extremely intelligent and strategic thinking young man who loved to socialize through hobbies. Merrick loved Magic the Gathering, L.A.R.P (Live-Action-Role-Playing), and various other gaming hobbies. Merrick had a deeper level of empathy that some people may not have realized. He was charming, sweet, and shy, yet insanely sociable in the most random of circumstances. He considered himself a homebody because that was where he was most comfortable and where all the people in his life were.

He loved all animals, especially his childhood dog Bruno, and their dog Voodoo.

In Merrick’s memory, we envision a serene spot where friends, family, and even strangers can gather to reflect, find peace, and connect with nature. A bench will provide a place for quiet contemplation, while planting a tree will stand as a symbol of strength, growth, and the enduring spirit of Merrick.

However, we cannot achieve this vision alone and we are asking for your support in making this memorial a reality. Your generous contributions will go directly towards the purchase and installation of the bench and tree in Oswegoland Park District.
