Support Mark and Kim's Journey to Recovery

Hi, we’re Mark and Kim, and our lives changed forever when the fire tore through our neighborhood, leaving us with nothing.

For the past eight years, we lived in Malibu, right next to our daughter. Our home was more than just a house—it was where we poured our hearts into gardening, landscaping, and making beautiful memories with our grandson, whom we cared for every day. We took him to all his activities and loved being close to family.

But when the fire came, both our home and our daughter’s home were completely destroyed. We didn’t just lose our belongings—we lost a lifetime of memories, irreplaceable family heirlooms, and treasured keepsakes from our parents and grandparents. These were things we held dear, reminders of the people we loved and the life we built together. Now, all of it is gone. The only memories we have left are the photos saved on our phones, and while we are grateful for those, it’s heartbreaking knowing that everything else is lost.

Right now, we’re staying at a shelter at the Pasadena Convention Center, trying to figure out our next steps as they will be closing down in about a week. Our four dogs and one cat are in an animal shelter, and while we’re relieved they are safe, we miss them deeply and hope to be reunited soon.

We need help to get back on our feet. Any support will go toward basic necessities as we work toward finding stability again.
