Support Mental Health Recovery
Tax deductible
Want to join me in making a difference? I no longer live in NYC but I thought since I'm participating in the NYC marathon, I should give back to this city that was my home. I'm raising money to benefit Community Access, Inc., and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
Community Access expands opportunities for New Yorkers living with mental health concerns to recover from trauma and discrimination through affordable housing, training, advocacy, and healing-focused services. I am specifically fundraising for Howie the Harp, a program of Community Access that trains individuals with a lived experience in the mental health system for direct service, supervisor, and management roles within Human Services. Howie the Harp is named in honor of Community Access’ first Director of Advocacy, Howard Geld, who was treated by mental health facilities and had first hand experience with discrimination and stigma even as an "ex" mental health patient. And so, Howie the Harp's mindset is "to transform the treatment system, you need to transform its workforce."
