Support Millie's Surgery

Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out with a heartfelt request for help with my beloved dog, Millie. Millie is an 11-year-old golden retriever who has been a loyal and loving companion for years. She is still so full of life, and is very active for her age. She loves swimming in the lakes and ocean near our home in Bellingham, Washington, and loves being immersed in nature.

Recently, Millie began experiencing various health issues. She started losing large amounts of fur, developed large, ruptured abscesses, and began urinating in the house for the first time in her adult life. I have visited her vet a handful of times in an attempt to figure out what's been going on with her.

After multiple rounds of blood tests, urinalysis, antibiotic treatment, X-rays, ultrasounds, and a handful of vet visits, she was diagnosed with bladder stones, and she now needs surgery to remove them. Although her bladder is severly infected from the size and quantity of the stones, I'm thankful that this diagnosis has ruled out more serious issues that could be more life threatening, such as Cushings disease and cancer. Unfortunately, it requires an expensive surgery and ongoing follow up treatments.

Yesterday, our vet reassured me that aside from her bladder stones and the subsequent infection, she is extremely healthy. I was told that Millie "had the blood-work of a two year old." This procedure will eliminate the pain that Millie is experiencing, clear her infection, and ensure she can continue living a happy and pain-free life. While she’s otherwise in great health, the cost of the surgery, along with the associated expenses like post-operative care and medication, is more than I can afford on my own.

Millie means the world to me, and has been my best friend since I was 19 years old. I've done everything I can to make sure she lives a long, active, happy life, and I want to continue to do everything I can to ensure she gets the care she needs. Any contribution, big or small, will help cover the cost of her surgery and get her back to her old self. Any additional donations beyond my goal will be donated to Best Friends Animal Society, a non-profit dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in shelters across the U.S. They operate the largest no-kill animal sanctuary and work with rescue organizations nationwide.
