Rebecca's Fundraising for Women in STEM Empowerment!!

Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca, and I'm competing in and fundraising for the Miss Asian Global pageant run by the Asian America Foundation. Raising $10k allows me to win the Miss Imagine Talks title and speak my passion and vision for empowering women in STEM at the foundation's yearly leadership event, Imagine Talks, to an audience of young women, the members of the bay area community, as well as influential sponsors and donors in attendance. This year's Imagine Talks panelists included notable figures such as MissChinatownUSA, New York Time's Bestselling author and executive producer of the Loveboat, Taipei series Abigail Wen, NYT Bestelling author of The Battle Hymn of The Tiger Mother Amy Chua, and award-winning journalist Cynthia Gouw.

Throughout my aerospace career in academia and industry at SpaceX, NASA, and several space start-ups, I have often felt like I had to suppress my authentic self in order to fit into the predominantly male world of engineering. By speaking at Imagine Talks as a pageant delegate and a Stanford aerospace engineering PhD candidate, I'm hoping to show that other women can show up in STEM as their true selves. June 26th, 2024 Update: We're getting closer to our $10k goal!! I have small donations in the form of ad space bought by Shannon Jewelers and Alegio Chocolaté, but most importantly, I have secured donation matching for every dollar raised on this GoFundMe, meaning any amount donated here will get doubled!! Therefore, I have adjusted the fundraiser goal to $5k. (Any funds beyond this goal still gets donated to the foundation and goes towards the running for the Miss Asian Global Entrepreneur title.)
