Support rogue wave's Season 3 Finale
Donation protected
If a star “dies” it explodes into a supernova right before, illuminating colors and light. What are other moments of grandeur next to moments of small?
It is this idea, the idea of getting big to get quiet that (my battery is low) and it is getting dark considers. It pulls in everything - the experience of the cast, my work in the hospital, and the last few years of our life to create rogue wave's latest evening length, our season 3 closer.
We are seeking support to specifically rent Center for Performance Research for this latest work as for our season 3 closer, securing a space that fit the aesthetic of the work felt paramount. Any donation would go towards rental fee ($3,000), dancer compensation (at least $1,500) and videographer/photographer/lighting designer ($2,000). rogue wave will also be taking this work on tour to Rochester, NY and Atlanta, GA but director Messina has worked to secure funding to support these tours.

rogue wave is a contemporary company based in New York City. rogue wave uses neuroscience as a jumping-off point for creation. I am deeply interested in discussing epigenetic and how every brain has a unique response to the same situation. I’m continuously fascinated with creating and retaining virtuosic details as I strive to contort the body in new, unique ways. I often work with partnering, believing in the idea that anyone can lift, anyone can base, and discovering unique points of loft and balance.

What has rogue wave done in these three years?
-Employed fourteen dancers, five photographers/videographers, four lighting specialists, and more
-Premiered three evening length productions. Works gap junction and bouquet were shown in New York and Atlanta with grant support from Indie Space and the Atlanta Science Festival and rogue wave: in review was shown through HERE Co:Op's Program in Summer 2024
-Taught at multiple universities, most recently being the choreographer-in-residence at Sacred Heart University and setting a new work at Nazareth University
-Residencies in Connecticut, New York, and Wisconsin
-Traveled to Vermont, Connecticut, Atlanta, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Rochester to perform
-Performed across NYC including the outdoor, public dance festivals of San Gennaro and Dance Parade NYC
-Given dancers the opportunity to set work on the company or teach company class
