Support Sean's Family in Quest for Justice

Donation protected
My name is Jonathan Harriford, and it was an honor to have Sean Harriford as my little brother. After years of our family advocating for better medical care and mental health treatment for Sean, it pains me to inform you that he was suddenly and senselessly taken from us while living in a state mental hospital.

Sean has been a victim of institutionalized abuse and neglect. Sean was an intellectually disabled, mentally ill, vulnerable adult who had been “Involuntarily Committed” over 80 times in his lifetime. He was falsely arrested for allegations of crimes that he did not commit.

Sean was an amazing kid who had a passion for music, art, video games, comics, and various sports. He was a creative and sensitive child with a vivid imagination who enjoyed being physically active. Sean was an exceptional swimmer and participated in several swim teams in the Arlington, Florida area. His other hobbies included rollerblading, exploring nature, and spending time with his friends. As he grew older, his interest in art and drawing flourished, and he was quite talented. I remember how he often showed his love for our mother through his drawings.

Unfortunately, we have little information about the circumstances of his death or what led to him being found unresponsive. He was taken to another nearby hospital, where he tragically passed away shortly after. His sudden and tragic loss has deeply pained his family and friends, leaving them with more questions than answers.

We were working towards getting him evaluated by a qualified medical professional to understand the extent of his brain damage. We had plans to place him in a facility overseas where he would have a chance at improvement, perhaps even thriving. I am devastated that he is no longer with us and that we will never be able to get him the help he so desperately needed. Sean’s fighting spirit will never be extinguished, nor will his death be in vain. He was a vulnerable adult; he is not a statistic. He’s my baby brother and will be greatly missed by those of us that knew him and loved him.

This Go Fund Me has been established to help support the mounting legal fees as Sean’s family continues to fight for justice for him. For example, a simple “Public Records Request” to learn more about an incident where Sean was abused and victimized has been quoted at $312,000. This is unreasonable and unacceptable.
