Support Nagham’s Dream: Education to Become a Doctor

Who we are: I am Nic, helping to raise funds on behalf of Nagham Abdullah Al-Athamneh

Where we are located: I am located in Connecticut in the US. Nagham and Suha are located in Gaza in Beit Hanoun

How we met and how funds will be transferred: As we know, gofundme cannot transfer funds directly to Palestine. Therefore, funds collected will be transferred into my bank at her request and then transfer directly to Nagham’s sister Suha. The money will go towards Nagham’s college education once they escape Gaza. I met Nagham’s sister Suha through another individual helping other families raise funds for escape. Suha is helping coordinate the transfer of funds.

These funds will go towards medical education for Nagham. Here is what she wrote about her dream to study medicine and become a doctor:

“I am Nagham Abdullah from Gaza, I am 21 years old, I am studying to become a Doctor of Pharmacy. This is my story. I hope you help me achieve my dream.

But now that my dream has become more important and my goal of studying medicine has become an inevitable goal in light of what I have seen of the urgent need for doctors in my city of Gaza in this war that we are still living through until this moment, I am writing this letter after more than a year of bombing, destruction, starvation and genocide that we are subjected to. I took the first steps to achieve my dream after I finished my high school and obtained a 97.7% average. I obtained this result after a struggle and study in order to obtain a scholarship because my family could not afford the costs of the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and I registered at the University of Palestine specializing in medicine (Doctor of Pharmacy), and I started studying and finished two full years of my specialization and did not complete others, before this war began and the occupation bombed and destroyed my university as it did in all universities in Gaza Strip.

and my dreams vanished with it. The financial burden on my father has become unbearable, especially in light of the bad conditions left by the war and the destruction of my house, and my father may need many years to rebuild it and put everything he owns. In the end, I aspire to be a super doctor in my field, in order to help the people of my city of Gaza, no matter how deep the wounds are and the aches are harsh, I believe that my mission as a pharmacist is to plant the seeds of healing in hearts exhausted by the war.

So I hope to continue my dream of studying this specialty as soon as possible.”

This family has been devastated by the war, their house has been destroyed by the bombings.

Here are Suha’s words on the devastation that has ocurred:

“Greetings to everyone who has humanity in this world. I am speaking to you from Gaza.

I do not know whether we will survive in the coming days from this death that is approaching us day after day. God saved me from the previous wars on Gaza, but this war is completely different.

Perhaps in the coming days I will not be among you. Perhaps death will take me as it took my friends and relatives.

I am Suha Abdullah Al-Athamna from Gaza, specifically from Beit Hanoun. I am 19 years old. I study software engineering. I was unable to achieve my dream and complete my university studies because of the war on Gaza.“
