Support the Growth of Disabled Hikers

Tax deductible
2022 has been the most impactful year for Disabled Hikers yet! With your help, Disabled Hikers created five comprehensive new guides in 3 states, including accessible outdoor trips near Boise, Idaho and a guide to the redwoods and giant sequoia parks of Northern California. And hopefully, you’ve heard our Founder and Director, Syren Nagakyrie, released the first-ever hiking guidebook created by and for disabled people: The Disabled Hikers Guide to Western Washington and Oregon.

We also became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization! Thank you for all your help in making these extraordinary things possible! We are asking for your continued support as we grow our organization.

Please make a tax-deductible donation through our fundraiser or at https://bit.ly/DHPayPalDonate.

Here are a few more ways we’ve made an extraordinary impact over the past four years:

• Created 25+ comprehensive trail guides and 15 informative articles
• Led 25 group hikes and events
• Facilitated 40+ trainings and presentations
• Grew a social media community of 25k+
• Featured in 30+ major media outlets
• Partnered with 15+ parks and organizations to improve access and inclusion

Disabled Hikers was created to center and facilitate disabled people’s experiences in the outdoors. Disability has been left out of the outdoor community for far too long. It is time to welcome Disabled people’s wisdom and expertise as we work towards building a more equitable, accessible, and inclusive outdoors.

Here’s some of what we’re planning in 2023:

• Disabled Hikers Network and Leadership Development programs
• New trail guides, including an expansion of states
• More events to connect with the community
• Increased staff and a sustainable budget

But we can’t grow without your help. We’re asking for your donations to ensure we continue increasing access to the outdoors. Through the Disabled Hikers Network, we will have local guides across the country, which means more trail guides, events, and an even more significant impact! Further, our Leadership Development program will invest deeper into training and supporting Disabled leaders in the field.

Truly any amount helps! Here are a few ways your donation can make a difference:

$25 – Sponsor a book for someone unable to afford it
$100 – Pay one community member to create a featured social media post
$200 – Pay one community member to share their story on our blog
$500 – Sponsor accessibility at an event
$1,000 – Support one group hike
$1,500 – Create one comprehensive trail guide
$3,000 – Support one photo shoot to increase representation
$5,000 – Sponsor the launch of the Disabled Hikers Network

With your generous support, we can continue to advance justice, access, and inclusion. Please donate to our fundraiser or at https://bit.ly/DHPayPalDonate. The sustainability of Disabled Hikers depends on it.

Thank you for your continued support.

In gratitude,
Syren Nagakyrie and the Disabled Hikers Team
