Supporting our Peregrine School Staff
Donation protected
Dear Peregrine Parents and Davis Community,
As you know, Peregrine School is closed until further notice because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the financial hardship the closure imposes on the school, 39 staff members were laid off and 29 staff members are employed at a greatly reduced rate of 1/3 of their regular hours. The staff who were laid off or had their hours reduced will receive full pay through April 3rd. However, due to the number of jobs affected by this crisis, it will likely be several weeks before staff members can collect unemployment benefits.
The teachers and staff who nurture and educate our children are facing financial hardship and insecurity until the school can re-open. Since we are paying significantly reduced April tuition, we decided to organize a direct donation gift fund to help our staff make ends meet during this uncertain time.
We are hoping to gather enough money to help each staff member get through the month of April. If we can raise $17,500, we can send $300 to each staff member who was laid off and $200 to each staff member with reduced hours. This would be a big help to our staff and their families!
Donations will be tracked and pooled into a common fund. After the fundraiser closes, the common fund will be split evenly between all staff members. The staff who have reduced hours will receive 2/3 of the amount the staff with no hours are receiving. In order to keep the process as transparent as possible, Paul has set up a separate checking account dedicated to this Go Fund Me campaign into which the funds will be deposited. From this checking account, we will mail checks to effected staff and afterwards provide an anonymous breakdown of funds received and a list of checks sent to each staff member after the close of the campaign.
This gift fund drive is completely optional. We know these are hard times for everyone and no one knows what is coming next, so please only donate what you are comfortable with and do not feel pressured to participate. Any and all amounts are welcome – every little bit will help!
This fundraiser will close on FRIDAY APRIL 17th to allow us to send checks as soon as possible.
Let's pool our resources during this difficult time and show our staff how much we care about them!
With Gratitude,
Stephanie Hockman & Paul Philley (parents of Lilly Philley in Escuelita South)
