Supporting Shane Through Cancer

Dave Matthews declares in song that “if you give you begin to live.” Dave is Shane’s favorite musician, so a quote from him is a must, because Shane and his wife Kim need your help. Two months ago, Shane Hart was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer (non-small cell adenocarcinoma of the lung). A large tumor is blocking the bronchial tube in his right lung and the cancer has spread: to the lung lining, causing his right lung to completely collapse, as well as some lymph nodes and areas of the spine, causing tremendous pain throughout his body. Today, Shane is undergoing regular chemo and weekly radiation treatments, which cause him to suffer from extreme fatigue most of the time. He is dependent on oxygen and is no longer able to work full-time, causing hardships caring for his family, which includes his wife, Kim, and his 7-year-old and 22-year-old daughters. Although Shane tries to stay in high spirits, the exorbitant costs of his appointments, testing, imaging, and treatment are taking a huge financial and emotional toll.
