Helping Susan Beat Cancer
This is Susan Moore, grandmother to four of the most precious grandchildren and mother to one beautiful daughter, and my wife and real life soul mate of 30 years.
In June 2014 she noticed a lump and tenderness in her breast and schedule a doctors appointment to have it looked at. At her first appointment it was discovered that her blood pressure was so high she had to go to the emergency room. Within two weeks she was told she had HER2 breast Cancer and that it was a very aggressive growing cancer. She started Chemotherapy in July with a treatment meant to be more aggressive than the cancer in order to shrink the tumor. After her second treatment her health went downhill quick as she had five emergency room visits and two week long hospital stays. In addition she was given three blood transfusions and additional medications to try and help combat the growing side effects. In December she had the tumor removed in a surgery that came closer than they would like to the edge of the cancer. She is now going through radiation treatment that has its own set of side effects, with follow up drug treatments with the hope she will go into remission in six more months.
Throughout all of this her spirit was never broken. She insisted on getting out to enjoy her hobby of photography even though more often than not she would pass out or get so weak that she would have to go back home.
The funds raised would be used to help offset the costs for co payments for doctor visits, prescriptions and traveling back and forth for the next six months. All of her treatments have been in nearby Savannah Georgia, which is only 48 miles away, but are steadily getting more expensive. Just traveling back and forth for the 30 radiation treatments, which is every day for 6 weeks, will cost over $6,000 in gas. The travel for the next 6 months of drug treatments, PET scans, follow up appointments will easily exceed $10,000 none of which gets paid for by the insurance company.
