Help Sylvie get a tooth implant
Hi, I'm Sylvie, I'm an unemployed trans woman living in Missouri. I've been having dental complications that have been at the forefront of my life in the past 6 months.
On May 13th, 2021, I had to get a tooth extracted. This tooth was previously afflicted with a cavity, root canal'd for the first time in 2005, and then root canal'd again in an attempt to save it back in February 2021. Sadly, the tooth was fractured and infecting the bone underneath the tooth, so it had to be extracted before the infection could reach the nerves. I got a bone graft and am just waiting for the extraction site to heal. In a few months, I will have to get an implant if i want to maintain structural stability in my mouth for the future.
I'd like to have been able to pay for this procedure out of my own pocket, but since Missouri cut off federal unemployment benefits starting in June, I no longer have an income or any way to save up for this.
If you could help contribute to this, it would be a tremendous help. Insurance is only paying a few hundred dollars for this, because it's considered a "specialty procedure", but missing teeth can have long term effects on the rest of the teeth in one's mouth. I would like to get this handled as smoothly as possible.
5/29/2021 update: I had to go to my dentist for an unrelated problem on a different tooth, and now i've reached my insurance's maximum, meaning the total cost of my implant procedure won't be covered by insurance. The total cost is going to be $3200.
9/16/2021 UPDATE: So i had my consultation for the implant today. I can wait until 2022, and the implant base itself will cost around $1700. HOWEVER, I also have to get the abutment and crown from my general dentist, and supposedly, my plan won't cover those costs, which will be around $2800.
SO THE NEW GOAL is now $4500. Luckily I have a few months to wait before i get these surgeries, so I will call and schedule the implant base when i reach $1700. Hopefully i can get it done early next year.
Thank you so much for your help. It is a real struggle for me to get and keep employment, so any contributions you make are tremendously helpful. Thank you!
