GCPS Teacher's home destroyed by lightning!
Donation protected
Miss Cat Kelly is a fellow teacher at Gwinnett County Public Schools who needs our help! Sadly, Cat lost her home and everything in it when it was struck by lightning as severe weather suddenly swept across the area on Saturday evening, June 27th. When lightning struck her house, it immediately caught fire. Thankfully, Cat was not home because it struck her bedroom where she spends most of her time. The top floor was a complete loss to the fire and the other areas of the house are soaked with water in an effort to put out the fire. Cat and her two fur babies (Chloe and Frankie) are safe, but are now homeless. Unfortunately, Cat does not have renter's insurance due to financial strains. She needs to replace everything. Cat is in need of a place to live, first and foremost. Currently, she is staying in a hotel for the next 2 nights. She lost all of her belongings - including washer, dryer, furniture throughout the house, clothes, shoes, bedding, kitchen items, etc. She is going back to the house today to see if she can salvage any dishes or anything else. I will be be sure to update if she was able to save anything else from the house.
A little about Cat...she is a very kind and giving person who has dedicated her life to teaching students with special needs for more than 30 years. She has been an exceptional special education teacher with Gwinnett County Public Schools for 8 years and has always enjoyed providing the best teaching and learning environment for her amazing students. Aside from her devotion to teaching, Cat adores animals and cherishes her sweet cat and dog that are her loving companions.
Any donation that you can give will be much appreciated and will help this special lady get back on her feet. Thank you!
