Terrance Rose was someone who was an immediate friend to me. He was the type of friend you dont get many chances in life to make, he was always the first person to lend a hand to help get you in anyway he could even it came at personal sacrifice to himself. He would also let you know when you were wrong. Terrence held himself to high standards and that was a source of personal pride. He believed in putting in the work and not taking shortcuts. I really enjoyed the time we spent together and learning so much from him and getting to know his family.
Terrance was a proud Army OEF Combat Veteran. He served as Staff Sergeant in an Artillery Unit and had planned on being a career Soldier. Due to injury he was medically seperated against his wishes. He rose quickly through the ranks and was a well trained, well versed and well rounded addition to any unit he served with. After leaving the Army he completed school to become an Electrician. Terrance had a lifelong passion and a wealth of knowledge of horses. This is a passion he shared with his wife Jody and their 2 sons Conner & Andrew. Terrance was extremely proud of his sons. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his son Andrew. Terrance was extremely proud of Conner who began work to work as a welder by the age of 18. Terrence loved helping Andrew with his Scout projects.
Terrance had enrolled at Niagara Community College to become a Substance Abuse Counselor. He stated " Who better to help than someone who has lived through it". I really thought that he could have helped so many people just based on his personality and caring and supportive demeanor. Ironically he hated the New England Patriots though he was a true Patriot, and enjoyed giving Pats fans a hard time.
Unfortunately Terrance passed away on 7/13/2019 in a car accident. Although the Veterans Affairs will provide his burial plot in the National Cemetery as he wanted, they provide little else to help with the cost of his services. The donations will help Jody pay for Terrance's service and help with other costs; one of which is caring for the horses Terrance loved so much and barn they leased to board them. Terrance had a life long passion for raising horses and would have done anything he could to care for them, even going as far as sleeping in the barn until his mare Hilda gave birth to his newest addition Ticket. Terrance had hoped to one day help other veterans with PTSD by starting a non-profit that would allow other disabled veterans learn horsemanship skills and teach them how to interact and care for them as a form of recreational therapy. I can attest to the therapeutic value of working with horses and I have Terrance to thank for that opportunity and I know he would have done great things to help other veterans. Please feel free to donate to help his wife Jody and their two sons during their time of need. Thank you for your time and help.
Sincerely,
Joshua
