Mission Statement

Hello, my name is Nadin Tsarinova, I'm a Ukrainian female director, who lives and creates in Los Angeles - my mission in short film "The Cake" is make the audience think about the consequences of propaganda in general, and covert abuse between women and men as a personal story of a victim of violence, who can be exposed as a monster - to remind the viewer of the importance of critical thinking.

Psychology

This film is a visual aid of how a quiet truth sounds less convincing than a passionate lie and how we are able to justify a bad person in our head or even at the legislative level.

Propaganda can make us feel like we know the truth when in fact we are being misled. It can create a sense of confidence and reassure us that we are on the right track. As viewers, we can see how propaganda affects ourselves by changing our perception of events to the exact opposite, and only those who really look into the depths will have the desire to watch the film again, questioning everything that he just saw.

Director's Note

I wrote this script one year ago when the war started in my country,

and the script was waiting the right time when Ukraine will win.

But war continues, and I can't wait anymore, to share my vision and story with you about the mechanics of mass manipulation and what does it lead to.

I hope it will help someone to understand the situation better, and turn on their critical thinking.

We made pre-production, production and post production for this project using our own money, with no budget or sponsorship. Now is time to show it to the world
