THE LONELY 1 ACTS FESTIVAL is a collaborative, virtual theatre arts project organized by DeSales University theatre alumni. It features TWO original one- act plays written and directed by DeSales grads, eight incredible theatre actors, and six talented production team members.
Our team started this project in August of 2020, as we observed more and more “zoom productions” that had done really amazing work, but didn’t quite overcome the obstacle of reaching the audience beyond the little webcam box. We set out on this journey to to bridge the gap between the traditional staged theatre, and the new normal of virtual theatre that so many are trying to navigate.
The Lonely 1 Acts Festival has a fully realized production team that includes production managers, lighting designers, sound designers, directors, and more. In order to bring this type of theatre to life, we are incorporating experimental lighting, sound, and set features that the actors will be using to tell the story. That’s where you come in!
We are raising funds for the technical elements of our festival that will help
1. Give virtual theatre a much deserved makeover
2. Help tell original stories in a new and innovative way
3. Reach new audience members and re-excite devoted theatre goers
All donations will go directly into elements of the production that you will noticeably see and hear! Every little bit will help transform the state of virtual theatre as we know it.
***As extra incentive, a portion of our total proceeds will be donated to the Actors Fund to help other artists continue their passion. ***
Your support for projects like this one is incredibly needed in a time where the death of theatre is at our heels. To keep theatre and the arts alive, we must keep creating and finding new ways to adapt. We hope to be back on the stage soon, but until then we rally for your support for a different kind of theatre.
