The Rick O'Shea Book Club Xmas Appeal 2024

The Rick O'Shea Book Club is Ireland's largest book club with over 40,000 members in over 100 countries.

It's has been run on Facebook since 2014 by RTE Broadcaster Rick O'Shea, that's me.

This is the 7th year of the annual ROSBC Xmas Appeal (we have raised over €230,000 in aid of amazing Irish charities since 2018) and this year we are aiming to raise €40,000 for two of the worthiest causes.

All I ask is that if you have gotten any enjoyment from the book club this year, like the radio show, or want to support the work of some amazing organisations, consider donating the price of a book for these incredibly worthy causes. How much that book costs is up to you...

Our charities for 2024 are:

  • The DSPCA - they exist uniquely to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome sick, injured and cruelly treated animals. They were also where Liz and I adopted our beloved George and TJ from in 2020.

  • The UNICEF Ireland Gaza and Lebanon Appeal - in Gaza, nine in every ten people have been forced from their homes, including almost a million children. In Lebanon, in only a few weeks, the number of internally displaced people has risen to at least 1.2 million, including 400,000 children. They desperately need your help.

Whatever we manage to raise will be split equally between both charities (for technical reasons here the DSPCA will collect the funds and then distribute half to the UNICEF Ireland Gaza and Lebanon Appeal so thank you to them for that!)

Please do share this on your socials - you'll find me on:

Please note, this fundraiser is something I do every year in a personal capacity and is not connected to my employers at RTE.
