Transform Trailers into Housing for Oakland’s Unhoused

Help Us Transform 25 Trailers into Housing for Oakland's Unhoused Residents

The Urgent Need
The homelessness crisis in Oakland has reached unprecedented levels, and we are committed to making a difference. Recently, the City of San Francisco, through the City of Oakland, delivered 25 trailers to the Interfaith Council of Alameda County (ICAC). These trailers, once destined for destruction, now have the potential to provide safe, temporary housing for those in desperate need. However, we need your help to make this vision a reality.

Our Goal
The City of Oakland had promised $600,000 to develop an emergency housing program using these trailers. Unfortunately, due to budget constraints and unforeseen challenges, these funds are no longer available. This leaves us with a critical funding gap that we must fill to transform these trailers into livable homes.

ICAC is now paying for on-site security to monitor the lot where the trailers are parked to protect them from vandalism and theft. This is an additional out of pocket expense that has not been budgeted for. Here is a video of what is happening at Westside since the trailers were delivered on Father’s Day.

We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise the $500,000 necessary to:

  • Renovate and furnish the 25 trailers.
  • Connect them to essential utilities such as water, electricity, and sanitation.
  • Provide on-site support services, including mental health care, job training, and case management.
  • Ensure ongoing maintenance and security of the trailer community.

Why This Matters
Every night, thousands of our neighbors sleep on the streets, in tents, or in their cars. These trailers represent a tangible opportunity to offer dignity, safety, and stability to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. With your support, we can give 25 families or individuals a place to call home while they work towards long-term solutions.
