Transition Support: Red Cross Missed Mark

Disaster Distress Relief Recovery! Currently living in an evacuation shelter with my children. Red Cross has been unsuccessful in helping us transition. Just dead - end referrals.

My name is, Erica. Impacted by the Eaton fire, we lost it all. As we strive to rebuild our lives, we rely heavily on the generosity of donors. Your donation will go toward rebuilding our lives. While I'm grateful for the help of, The Red Cross, they have been unsuccessful in helping us transition.

We are not sure when the doors of the shelter will close on us. As communication with Red Cross has been unsuccessful. We are afraid we will be living in a tent on the street.

For children, a safe, stable home provides more than just shelter, it is the emotional and social center of family life. It is at home where parents nurture their children, who in turn have a secure space to play and grow.

Currently, Red Cross has removed the families from one dorm and placed us with unvetted people & animals. There's been chaos since. For example: Shoes, phones, etc. has been stolen. Being impacted by such transition, one of my children now suffers from nervous energy, sleep difficulties and agitation. As a mom, I've been impacted as well such as: increased worrying.
