Tuition Fees to finish PhD

Donation protected
Dear Global Village,

I am raising funds to continue my PhD. After completing two years of my doctoral research, I face an unexpected and short deadline for tuition fees.

Over the years, many of you have watched me develop into the artist, teacher and researcher I am today.  I began working as a preschool and elementary art teacher at Waolani Judd Nazarene School and I am now the fine art senior lecturer in professional studies at the University of Arts London. My development reflects the community of support I've had, everywhere I have called home.

My love for learning and passion for teaching came from doing life with my community. I have been supported in a variety of ways. From listening to and sharing stories, to meals around a table, book suggestions, and conversations that continue to inspire me. You have believed in my vision and supported my dreams. You have cautioned me when necessary and stood, cheering me on to every finish line.

I am now approaching my 3rd and final year of research in decoloniality and Luo storytelling culture. I'm so close to the finish line and I am asking for your support to finish my PhD.  If you would like more informatin about my learning and teaching journey The research I have been developing looks at how decoloniality is embedded within the storytelling practices of the Luo tribe in Kenya. As a member of this community, it has been an honour to work with our knowledge traditions and to share them through my work. The legacy of storytelling taught to me by my mother and grandfather is captured in my research and the ethos of my father--wacho gi timo, saying and doing.

I cannot imagine not being able to carry this research out to completion.

To maintain my enrollment, and visa to remain in the UK where I work and also live, I need to pay  £10,000 in tuition. My current visa restricts me to 20 hours/week so I am unable to take on any more work.  The amount will cover my remaining year of tuition, which will provide peace of mind in what has been a very difficult year with the recent passing of my dad. I would have loved to share this research with him.

Thank you for taking the time to read and for any support you can provide.

Lynn
