Help Get Gary Home
Donation protected
Our dear friend Gary McDonnell is battling Multiple Myeloma since his diagnosis in July 2021. Gary is receiving excellent care in The Mater Hospital following a Stem Cell Transplant in September. Because of the aggressive nature of Gary's Myeloma he requires a 2nd Transplant in the coming months.
Gary was admitted to The Mater on June 21st with back pain and it was discovered that he had developed a large tumour which was
compressing his spinal cord, and despite the best efforts of the amazing staff, Gary, at 54 is now permanently paralysed from the chest down and wheelchair dependent. Gary continues to fight these battles with enormous strength and courage.
Gary will be coming home to his wife Orlagh, daughters Ciara and Eimear and dog, Dexter. All funds raised will go towards supporting
Gary and his family as he continues to battle Myeloma and Paralysis and transitioning his care from hospital to home, which includes significant renovations to his home, a wheelchair accessible car and all ongoing health care for Gary’s condition to be cared for at home. Following discharge Gary will require on going care for his Myeloma at the Mater Hospital which will incur even further additional costs.
The level of support Gary and his family has received is hugely appreciated and we hope to raise funds to enable Gary to leave
hospital and to be cared for at home. We are determined to support Gary and his family in every way and your contributions are very
much appreciated.
