I am Natalia Lagutenko, the heart and soul behind the “Barks and Meows” family shelter in Ukraine. For over 18 years, my life's mission has been to rescue, care for, and rehome vulnerable animals. Proudly, we've found forever homes for over 500 dogs and 50 cats.

Currently, I provide a loving home to four remarkable dogs — Dina, Grey, Bagheera, and Narim — as well as two cats, Simon and Marquis. Each of them has a unique, often heartbreaking, backstory, and they all suffer from chronic and congenital health issues. Their conditions necessitate special diets, constant veterinary care, and for one brave doggy, a wheelchair for mobility.

Unfortunately, the ongoing war in Ukraine has strained our resources, making it incredibly challenging to maintain the quality of care these animals deserve. We are on the brink, with skyrocketing costs and diminishing supplies.
