Unexpected Funeral Costs For Navy Veteran, Robert Jacobs

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Miriya Jacobs and my grandfather (Gramps), Robert (Bob, Bobby) Jacobs, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at home on Wednesday morning, June 26, 2024. Our family is devastated, in shock, and this has left us in complete disarray. Gramps took care of everything but we are left picking up the pieces. Gramps is survived by his wife, my grandmother Alberta, of 58 years, his three sons, Patrick, Kimo and Michael, and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren, of whom he loved and adored.

We created this Gofundme to help with the unexpected and high costs of funeral services. Gramps was a military veteran and the VA benefit is a ridiculously low reimbursement of only $950. We need to pull together about $7000 so he may have the proper burial at the VA Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada, with full military services, which is what he wanted and deserves. Anything you are able to offer will be greatly appreciated, anything, and if you cannot donate, please share and please keep this going. We really need the help of our family and friends during this unexpected time and we thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.

I would also like to take this time to share a little bit about Gramps with you, so you can have a glimpse into the amazing person we all knew and loved. Gramps joined the U.S. Navy in 1962, and served for four years before he started his career as an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA. He was a very dedicated man to his family and country, and a devout Catholic. Gramps even received a letter from President George W. Bush thanking him for his 41 years of service with the FAA. He gave so much.

Having spent some time stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Gramps developed an appreciation for the beach. He would have us go so early in the morning to setup our beach day, that most of the grandkids would still be asleep. He always showed us a great time. He really enjoyed grilling, cooking, and baking. He was always baking cakes and cookies, and never missed an opportunity to grill chicken wings. We will forever miss his teriyaki meat, BBQ ribs, and his beloved Thanksgiving feast.

Gramps was also a big time Denver Broncos fan and he enjoyed watching the game with his family whether you were on his side or not. These memories will forever be in our hearts and our family functions will never be the same.

This is so difficult to write… We felt in Gramps’ eyes that he was the kind of person that would live forever. We cannot believe he is gone forever. We miss him so much already and this time is extremely overwhelming. We don't have a set date for his funeral but is expected to be in the next few weeks. Any aid you can render would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
