UNM ASAP Patient Fund

Hi,

My Name is Dr. Richard Gadomski. I am an Assistant Professor and physician working at the University of New Mexico Hospital Addiction and Substance Abuse Program (ASAP).

ASAP is a comprehensive treatment facility focused on treating substance use disorders through integrated evidenced-based care. We offer:

-Case management

-Medication assisted treatment, including opioid replacement therapy

-Outpatient detoxification

-Primary care services, including hepatitis C treatment

-Psychiatric services

-Psychotherapeutic services (group, individual, family and couple services)

-Specialty addiction treatment including services for pregnant, adolescent and transition age, and individuals with severe mental illness and/or trauma

I am writing because we have a Patient Fund that is running low. The patient fund is used for small things that a patient cannot afford and/or is not covered by insurance, but are critical to their recovery and overall success. For example, a pair of work boots for a gentleman currently experiencing homelessness who needs them to start a new construction job and get back on his feet. Or a bus pass for someone who lacks transportation. Or help purchasing an expensive medical device like a CPAP machine and covering the co-pay for someone with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

At ASAP we serve as a safety-net clinic for some of the most vulnerable clients in Albuquerque, often struggling with severe and persistent mental illness in addition to addictions. As such, we attempt to provide robust wrap around support, and the Patient Fund helps us accomplish that mission.
