This GoFundMe fundraiser is for a very important woman in our family, someone who could only be described as a person who would do anything for those around her to be happy and healthy. She is the last person she herself would consider in times of need, as long as she had the ability to make sure everybody was taken care of, that's all that matters to her. She would be more than willing to invite the world to sit at the table with her and just have a coffee and conversation. She was also willing to be a mother to whoever needed it.

After surviving a massive brain hemorrhage she still soldiered on with her same selflessness she always displayed, making sure everyone had what they need, providing for her family without a question, it was just her way of showing you she cared. More recently she fell on hard medical times again with failing kidneys requiring her to have kidney dialysis. Still she soldiered through, waking up at 5:30 AM to sit in the hospital all day just to make sure she could be around to provide whatever she could. Although she fought through months of dialysis she was hit again with a health issue. She was diagnosed with very rare vulvur cancer, which yet again she was a absolute warrior going through months of radiation treatments. In fact she managed to get through the most radiation the hospital had to offer, 37 straight treatments all the while continuing her dialysis treatments, many times on the same day.

Unfortunately, regardless of how strong the fight was and the amount of effort by all the amazing Dr's involved at Sunnybrook Odette cancer centre the cancer has won the fight.

Bessie has held on as long as she could, struggling through the pain of a growing tumor that has left her bedridden and in palliative care. All the sickness and medications has taken its toll to the point that even someone with such a great spirit just can't fight back anymore. Knowing how much she loves her family, her grandkids, and all her friends I can't imagine the amount of pain she is bearing

Throughout all the illness and appointments we have also put our lives aside to try and get through this with her and come out with a clean bill of health on the other side. This battle with cancer hit surprisingly, it hit hard and it hit fast leaving us with very little time to prepare for a funeral, memorial and other end of life expenses. We as her family would love nothing more than to be completely selfless just as she would be and provide her with a beautiful end of life service, something she would insist someone else would deserve.
