Veteran Daniel Romero Fundraiser
Daniel Romero, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran (1962-1967), from Belen, New Mexico has fallen onto hard times.
He’s living in an mostly-burnt adobe hut with his pups. This 20 minute video was captured by Mr. Romero’s friend, Frank Baca, to tell a small bit of his story. We’re going to rally behind Daniel and show him that his community and military family care about him. No veteran should have to live under theseconditions. Please give if you can, and share this GoFundMe link with others. ❤️
NOTE: where your donations are going! At this point the objectives are to.
1. Raise money for firewood and daily needs (health care, food, clothes).
2. Use funds to improve his current living situation like insulation being installed into his unfinished bedroom while we work to secure him a trailer or RV.
3. Find a single wide trailer home to be donated and then placed on his property; the cost to havea trailer hauled to his property will likely run from $800-$1200 depending on location and hookup requirements.
4. Use funds to get the trailer hooked up and working. There will be significant work associated with making a trailer live-able, such as plumbing and electrical hook ups, replace fixtures.
5. Then the real need for “stuff” starts: furniture, bed, table, chairs, dressers; all to furnish his new home. We hope to get as much donated items as possible, but since he lost everything there will some cost for things that need to be bought new.
Note: his space is limited in current living quarters, so in-kind donations are all thoughtful and very welcomed, but his real need will be funds to help secure his new home.
Also, please be aware that I (Michael Burd) am responsible for the withdrawal and use (or delivery) of funds. As items are purchased, work accomplished you can see your donations at work on the New Mexico Veterans Memorial Facebook page.
