Mark Riley very sadly passed away on June 7th. He was found in his home, the cause is still uncertain.
Mark was a dedicated father to Felice. He was an enthusiastic gardener and much loved member of the local community.
During this difficult time, we are coming together to honour Mark’s memory and provide him with a proper farewell. He will be having a direct funeral before we celebrate his life on July 10th. Details are below.
As you can imagine, the costs associated with a funeral can be overwhelming. Therefore, we have organised this fundraiser to help cover these expenses, likely to be around £3000.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser with your network would also be incredibly helpful. Obviously time is of the essence, so prompt action is very much appreciated.
If the money raised exceeds this amount, funds will be put towards other associated expenses, such as house clearance and legal costs.

Mark's Memorial Celebration
Mark will be cremated on July 4th in a simple, unattended, direct cremation.
The celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Wednesday 10th July from 1pm-evening. There will be a ceremony at the Glade, in the woods in Dartington, followed by drinks at the Bay Horse Inn in Totnes.
I hope that this event will be a nice opportunity for everyone to come together from all walks of Mark’s life, and for us to remember him for the wonderful spirit that he had.
His ashes will be present at the Glade in a quiet, indoor space where people can peacefully pay their respects.
It would be lovely for people to bring any pictures, writings or objects that they would like. These could be as an offering, or as a way to decorate the space. A digital slideshow with photos and videos will be presented throughout the event.
At 2pm, we will gather around the firepit, and celebrant Rupert Callender will say a few words in Mark’s memory. This would be an opportunity for anybody who wishes to say something to do so. If you would like to prepare something or feel that you would like to speak in the moment, anyone is very welcome to.
Following this, there will be food and drink to share. Tea and coffee is available on the site, and it would be great if people could bring any food or drink in addition to this.
From 5pm onwards, we will gather in the Bay Horse, a place which has many happy memories for Mark. There will be a playlist of Mark’s favourite music to accompany drink and chat into the evening. If you are unable to attend the Glade, do still come along and join us at the Bay Horse.
There is no dress code, please come in whatever you are comfortable in.
In addition, if people would like to send in any photos to be presented on a digital slideshow or printed, or any music to add to the playlist, please let me know via email ([email modificata]).
