What is this about?
North Spokane is one of the most beautiful, geographically diverse, and economically vibrant regions in the country. With the abundance of outdoor recreation that includes miles of hiking and winding rivers, the public's interest has always been drawn to North Spokane. The intersection of N. Mill Road and N. Waikiki Road has functioned as a gateway to a number of significant destinations that represent the culture, community and beauty of this region. Below is a short list of regional attractions that make this community a destination:

●  Kalispel Golf & Country Club
●  Whitworth University
●  Mead High School
●  Fairwood Farmers Market
●  St. George’s School
●  Indian Painted Rocks
●  LIttle Spokane River access
●  Bozarth's Mansion
●  Switchbacks hiking trails
●  Spokane Fish Hatchery

This is one of the first roundabouts completed by Spokane County. The County does not have the funds to proceed with further development nor does it have plans for any future development. They have provided an infrastructure that is a safe and effective traffic control, as well as an opportunity for the community to complete this project. This is where North Spokane community volunteers comes in. Our interest is to continue the development of this project and complete it through the efforts of volunteers and donations from local businesses and organizations, as well as the residents in our region.

It is our intent to provide an aesthetic gateway to these resources and neighborhoods. Please join us and contribute to the "beautification" of our community!

Who is Involved?
A brief bio of the key people responsible for making this happen:

Rob~ Rob Allen is sometimes jokingly called the "Mayor" of Fairwood by his neighbors because of all the community initiatives he's involved with.  He is currently - and has served several terms as - the board president of the Fairwood Park-1 Homeowners Association.  He co-founded the Fairwood Farmers Market.  He spearheaded the Save Our Switchbacks (SOS) trails initiative along the Little Spokane River.  His Allen Family Properties repurposed the old Wolfy's Steakhouse in the Fairwood Center into a Thomas Hammer coffee shop and 15 executive office suites.  In addition, he employs about 10 North Siders at his RangeMaster Shoulder Therapy tools company headquartered in Fairwood.  Previously he spent 10 years in marketing with Avista Utilities, 7 years as a reporter and editor at The Spokesman-Review, and 3 years as founder and publisher of the weekly Spokane Valley News.  Rob and his wife Adrienne have been married since 1975 and they have seven children and 11 grandchildren.

Curt~ Curtis Morin is a local landscape architect who works for Clearwater Summit Group, a design/build construction company in Spokane.  He moved to Inland Northwest in 1994, and was a graduate of Mead High School.  He attended Washington State University, and received his degree in 2003.  Immediately after graduating from Wazzu, he moved to the southeast part of the country, where he could enjoy the warm weather and year-round work environment.  While in South Carolina, he met his current partner Jessica, with whom he has two boys, now aged 6 and 11.  They relocated back to the Spokane area in 2009, and have been thoroughly enjoying their time in Fairwood Park since they purchased their home in 2014.  In his spare time Curt can usually be found in his yard, doing whatever work he can find that will keep him busy outside.  He also is fond of growing copious amounts of tomatoes (ten plants this season!), though nobody in the family – including himself – even likes them in the slightest.

Kelly~ Kelly McCann has been a Spokane resident since 1979 and has enjoyed living in different parts of the city before becoming a north side resident for the last 21 years.  After attending Gonzaga Prep he continued his education at Washington State University and started his professional career in the publishing industry, working for Fujifilm North America for over twenty years. Throughout his career with Fujifilm, he has worked with companies such as Starbucks, Boeing, Coca-Cola, Mazda, Apple and several large commercial publishers across the country. Most recently he was the National Service Manager where he was responsible for five product lines including the capital equipment division. In this role he managed the implementation and deployment of Fujifilm's $2 million digital imaging printing presses.

As an advocate in the concept that “it's never too late to learn something new”, he returned to W.S.U. Graduate School in 2019 at the School of Engineering with a focus in Project Management.  After obtaining his Project Management certificate, Kelly began looking for new challenges. With a deep appreciation of what Spokane has to offer, he has volunteered to help lead the completion of the Mill Road/Waikiki roundabout project.
