Walker's Wig For A Kid Fund
Donation protected
It was a Big Day yesterday!! Walker cut his hair!!
You may know that Walker decided he wanted to donate his hair to charity, which is why his ponytail has been getting longer and longer over the past few months. We needed 12 inches, but he wanted to keep at least a small ponytail so we needed a bit more than that.
In our research about donating hair, we learned that some organizations charge their recipients for the wig or hair system. This seemed unfair to us so we found a group that does NOT charge! It is called Wigs For Kids (wigsforkids.org). While this group does not charge for the hair system they create, they still have expenses. About $1800.00 per wig, to be exact!
Walker has decided that he woud like to try to raise these funds and send them along with his hair so that he can donate everything needed for one sick child to have hair. If 180 people donate $10 each, we can reach his goal. In fact, he wanted to be the first to donate, and so he gave $10, plus an extra $2 to kick off his campaign.
We would like to say a special "Thank You" to Jen and her team at Shine Hair Parlor for making this a great experience - we all had so much fun! Tears were shed from laughter! And, emotional tears were shed as we watched this kind-hearted 7-year-old boy literally cut off part of his identity so that somewhere another child could have an easier time in life. It will take a few months to get his hair long enough for that signature ponytail, but he is okay with that and already looking forward to growing it out again for another child in need.
Thank you for reading Walker's story - please check out the pictures below! And, from Walker and one other child out there, thank you for considering a donation.
