This fundraiser has been created for our lifelong friend, Megan Johnson, and her family.
Megan is a 37-year-old devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. Her selflessness and support extend to anyone around her without hesitation. The warmth of her smile is enough to make someone’s worst day better. Megan and her husband, Carl, lead a modest life, putting their daughter’s, Carli, and Allie, needs above all else.
When Megan was 14, she lost her father to cancer, particularly, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was 43. She would often talk about him and the fear she felt that the unthinkable would happen to her as well, worrying for her husband and children. Sadly, in June of this year, Megan’s fear became a reality after an Emergency Room visit for pain that had become too severe to handle. During this visit, she was found to have masses of swollen lymph nodes in her abdomen, as well as her chest. Shortly thereafter, she, like her father, was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma – diffuse large B cell – double hit.
Megan and her husband, Carl, own a small business locally. Similarly to many small businesses, the impact of COVID-19 has created significant financial challenges not only for the business but for their family as well. The sudden cancer diagnoses and treatment costs, including the hidden costs not covered by insurance have made the financial situation impossible. They are renting their home and have depleted most of their savings to cover treatment expenses. Megan’s path to recovery will be long with no current end in sight.
Megan’s husband, Carl, is working tirelessly to care for Megan, support their two daughters, and maintain their business. Unfortunately, Carl’s efforts are not enough to support their family on his own during this difficult time.
This fundraiser has been established to help ease the burden on Megan’s family so they can focus on her treatment, recovery, and precious time together.
As Megan and her family face the unthinkable and strive to help Megan BEAT THIS CANCER, if we help alleviate some of the mounting financial pressure, we can support Megan and her family in their time of sincere need.
