Help April Get Back On Her Feet!

Hello there! I’m Rachel and I am creating this page on behalf of my mother, the incomparable April Silton. On December 5th, while on vacation in Hawaii, April was involved in a horrific car accident. She was riding as a passenger in a rented Jeep Wrangler when the vehicle inexplicably accelerated and veered into a cliff face, totaling the car and severely injuring my mom. In addition to a perforated colon, she has been left with 10 broken bones, including a shattered femur, 2 broken wrists, and 2 fractured vertebrae in her spine. It was an extremely harrowing experience that the driver has no memory of and my family and I feel so grateful that it was not worse! After over 2 weeks in the hospital, we are finally moving out of crisis mode and have started to recognize the extremely long road to recovery my mom will soon be embarking on. Her hospital bills are exceeding anything that we ever thought was possible. She is thankfully home now(!!), but still requires full-time caregiving for an unknown amount of time, as well as physical and occupational therapies. In addition, she will not be able to work and will incur a huge loss of income. Despite the terrible pain, fear, and suffering my mom has endured, she always has a smile on her face (see picture above!) and continues to remain in good spirits.

If you know my mom, you know how active she is. She lives to work out with her trainer, go on hikes and walks with her dog Chewy, and go swing dancing until the wee hours of the night! Please consider donating any amount of money to help my mom in her journey to getting back on her feet.
