You'd think nurses would get unique benefits such as lower health care costs, free surgeries, and free ambulance rides....unfortunately they don't.

My name is Brittani, and I am putting this Gofundme together for my friend Devyn Ost. Devyn and I have known each other since we were crazy high schoolers, and over the years, I have never seen her give up the chance to help anyone in need.

Devyn is a nurse; in her off time, you can find her in the hills on her mountain bike.

A week ago, Devyn had a terrible crash on her mountain bike. She was riding on a trail she'd ridden a million times at one of her favorite bike parks in Hood River, OR. On this day, a gust of wind turned a fun day into a miserable one. Devyn was riding down a trail with two large gap jumps just like she had days before. She hit the first gap perfectly then the second jump came; as she caught air off the jump, something was off. Her bike began to shift to the left, and she immediately tried to jump off her bike, only to get her foot stuck in her bike frame while falling carelessly through the air. When she landed, she intertwined in her bike with multiple broken bones. Devyn was taken by her friends to the emergency room at Providence in Hood River, OR. She would soon find out that she had not only broken her tibia and fibula in her right leg but also broke her left heel, left wrist, and left collarbone. She was then transferred by ambulance and admitted to the emergency room in Portland, OR. She underwent multiple surgeries over multiple days to put her back together.

Devyn's injuries include:

-right compound fracture of the tibia and fibula corrected with hardware

-left heel fracture was splinted with no surgery

-left wrist fracture of the styloid process of ulna and radius corrected only the radius with hardware

-left clavicle was fractured in one place and corrected with hardware

Devyn's recovery time is about three months. She will be in a wheelchair and out of work for 6 weeks. After six weeks, if all goes well, she will graduate to crutches and loads of physio to get her back to walking.

Devyn has insurance; however, the insurance did not cover all her costs.

All donations will be given directly to Devyn. She will use contributions to cover costs not covered by her insurance, housing, and unexpected medical expenses.

Devyn is someone who is the first to lend a helping hand no matter the situation, and now is our time to do the same for her!
