My name is Tami. About 10 days ago I developed a wound that was not healing which led to my being hospitalized 8 days ago. I am still in the hospital, waiting on transfer to a short term rehab facility. The wound is necrotic and they do not want to send me home until it heals for fear of reinfection. This medical issue is also accompanied by blood sugar numbers that can't get down and sky-high blood pressure. They don't know when I will be allowed to go home, it will all depend on the many factors at play right now. I am a single mom, the only source of income for our household. I am fighting with my employer about leave and temporary disability. Even with temporary disability, I won't be able to cover the costs not covered by health insurance once I am transferred to rehab, let alone normal monthly bills like rent and such.
