Help Sienna fight Leukemia

Donation protected

On December 24th, 2022 our world was turned upside down. My youngest daughter Sienna, who was just shy of 18 months old, was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

A month before her diagnosis she received her routine childhood vaccines and following that appointment, Sienna developed a low-grade fever that we could not break. That fever lasted a solid month. She looked pale and exhausted every day. Her doctors said she was just unlucky... that she had back-to-back viruses' but we knew our girl was unwell.

After begging for a complete blood count, her pediatrician was alarmed by her results. Everything was low. We were sent to Boston Children's Hospital and learned our girl was fighting for her life. Undiagnosed ALL, can take the life of a child within 6 months. We were devastated but were also so grateful that this was caught because we almost took her home without that test.

Her chemotherapy treatment began on Christmas day and the treatment protocol for her cancer will take 2 and a half years to hopefully achieve remission.

Sienna has a long road ahead and we recognize that this will be a difficult and costly battle. We have and will continue to accumulate several unexpected medical and commuting expenses as a result of Sienna's diagnosis and care.

Sienna will also be immunocompromised for the majority of the time she is in treatment. Common viruses, bacteria and fungal infections that would not phase you or me are life-threatening to her.

The basement in our home has flooded twice and we have a stubborn leak in our chimney which has resulted in mold issues that have depleted our funds and slowed our efforts. This also means our home is likely not safe for Sienna to return to as mold can cause life-threatening illnesses to her. We need help to fix those issues or potentially find alternative housing for Sienna at the end of her current 32-day hospital admission.

I recognize that we are all struggling, so anything you can donate is appreciated and if you can't we'll be grateful for your prayers. This help will allow us to keep #SiennaStong and allow her to focus on ridding her body of this terrible disease in a safe environment.

Cancer and chemo in this short time have changed and taken so much from her already. We are sad, but grateful to still have our girl with us. And for that, we come into this New Year being grateful and still feeling blessed.

Thank you for reading our story and for considering donating. May you and your family have an abundance of peace and blessings in the year ahead.
