Girls Into Coding 2

Spende geschützt
My name is Avye, I am an 11-year-old coder & Maker.  Following the success of my first Girls Into Coding event in July, I have decided to organise a second Girls Into Coding event in November 2018 that will be hosted at VaynerMedia, London.
I will need your help to make it as successful as the previous one, if not, more successful!

Before going further, I would like to tell you a little bit about me:

I started coding when I was 7.  Last November, I won the ‘best working device’ for the Micro: bit 1st Birthday Challenge  & my robot was exhibited at the BETT Show (British Educational Training & Technology)  in January. In February, I was selected to be one of 12 coders for the Young Coders Conference  at the Tate Modern – where I collaboratively developed & delivered workshops to the public.

In April, I led a workshop at the CoderDojo Girls Only event at the Institute of Imagination and at the end of April, I won the hardware category at the Coolest Project UK  with my voice command robot – Voice O’ tronik Bot.

In June I was invited to showcase my winning robot at the All London Raspberry Jam hosted by Microsoft Reactor in London.

In July I was named as one of the ten winners of the Inspiring Juniors, UK . The Inspiring juniors competition was launched to celebrate the publication of a new novel, Project Prep, with the aim of finding girls with a passion for technology, who are role models for others.

I would like other young people to enjoy similar experiences and I want to become a visible role model. I am particularly interested in encouraging more girl involvement in tech & coding.

In May, I successfully crowdfunded for my first Girls Into Coding event which was held in July 2018. The event was free. We delivered exciting workshops & talks. You can read all about the first event here !

It was a success but I am not stopping there! The second Girls Into Coding event will also be aimed at 15 girls aged from 9 to 14  and be held in November 2018.

We will be running 3 coding workshops. I will lead one of them and the other two will be delivered by Firetech Camp and Think Create Learn  (tcl). The Microbit and the Raspberry Pi, (pocket size computers) will be used. There will also be lightning talks from key proponents. At the end of the session, each of the girls will be awarded a Tech package that will contain:

A BBC Micro:bit  starter kit  worth £15
Tinker Kit for BBC micro: bit  worth £38 - The Micro: bit Tinker Kit is a set of components and accessories for the BBC micro: bit. This kit includes 10 modules that can be used to create exciting projects! It's for both beginners and experienced micro: bit users.

- The additional  Operating Costs will be approximately  £155.

Hopefully, this will allow the girls to continue coding at home; encourage them to join a coding club or to create their own! We had great feedback from the last event. The girls were very happy with the tech bags which allowed them to delve further into coding and have fun with it!

I am super passionate about this project and as mentioned earlier I am now raising money to provide
another 15 girls with an exciting tech experience and a bag filled with tech goodies.
I really hope you can support me in making this event a reality and ultimately helping to get more girls into coding / Tech!

We are still faced with a lack of female representation in STEM. Hopefully, you agree that this needs to change!

Please support me by donating what you can!

Thank you for your support!
